Application modules - VisualICU
VisualICU eliminates manual, paper-based
documentation and order entry and gives intensivists and support staff a
comprehensive view of their patients’ progress. Each patient record is updated in real-time with
laboratory and nursing input so the most current information is always at hand. Charts can never
be misplaced and all members of the medical team have concurrent access to the same information.
Diagnosis-based or therapy-based order sets for critical care can be prescribed with just one keystroke. Prescriptions are legible
and dosages are calculated on the basis of individual patient parameters.
The system supports more than 40 possible drug administration routes and
more than 1500 possible administration frequencies for any given route.
CAPD and hemodialysis orders and dosing are also supported in existing
ordersets and protocols. VisualICU dynamically
reviews all prescriptions and suggests alternative courses of therapy based on
currently active treatment protocols. Ordersets and protocols can be
re-evaluated by the system on a moving-forward basis so that new
physical findings and laboratory results may feed back on existing
orders. Physician prescriptions are transmitted directly to the
Medication Administration Record, care plan and hospital
pharmacy. Access to image test results is supported, including real-time
cardiac cath animation available on any VisualICU workstation -
including wireless computing tablets by-the-bedside - through the
integrated DICOM viewer. Clinical signs, diabetic flow sheets, and input and output data contribute information
to system decision-support algorithms which alert the physician before critical situations develop.
Continuity of care is assured from admission through discharge and beyond because the information
required to care for the patient is always at the fingertips of the healthcare team.
